Rupert Goodwins' Diary

You remember I was really nice about Microsoft getting rid of the dancing paperclip in Office XP? You remember I said it was a sign of sanity and real customer awareness?

Well, it's still there.

Hell hath no fury like a cynical hack suckered into a marketing campaign, especially from the likes of 'em. Which means I have to reinstate the Windows ME CD in the middle of the dartboard (at least until I get an Office XP distribution), rebuild my wax model of Microsoft's usability department, sharpen those needles and find a goat. You'll notice that the rumours of Microsoft doing a Boeing and moving its campus away from Seattle are back again -- they've tried to exorcise the old place, but my computerised voodoo continues to work its subtle harm. Turns out you don't even need a real voodoo doll any more -- a 3D rendering in Autocad and a thin film of Vaseline over the screen does the job. Technology's wonderful, eh?
