Bizarre aeronautical antics at Redmond today, as Bill Gates hands six lucky computer manufacturer employees copies of the finished Windows XP. These bods then sprint to nearby helicopters, which whisk them back to base. No mention whether they'll be playing Ride of the Valkyries, nor when Microsoft is finally going to realise that there's this spiffy new invention called 'the Internet', which gets software around the place even faster than a CD in a chopper.
Today also brings to a close my first full week's heavy XP bashing. You'll have to wait until the ZDNet UK XP spectacular hits the screens for the full report, but the RC2 version I've been using hasn't been without its idiosyncrasies. I tried to get the Remote Desktop access stuff going -- basically, remote control for debugging and training purposes -- but the computer called Goat refused to talk to the computer called Wilson. Turned out that Wilson wasn't listening to the Net, because Wilson would only listen for incoming calls on the printer port.
I do hope there isn't going to be a lot of this...
