A strong reaction in ZDNet Central to this piece about how there are now "over 100 million" websites out there.

"It's utterly utterly meaningless!!", exploded Jono. "It's quantitative not qualitative!"

For instance, he said, is ZDNet UK one site or five (that'll be news, opinion, reviews etc)? Fair go, the article says the "number of currently active sites is only around 51 million" (which says a lot) but what are the criteria this is all measured by?

"And even if they came up with the most accurate measure in the world," the Builder UK guru spluttered, "What the **** would you do with the information?!"

I agree - it's probably advertising agencies just trying to make a point in their presentations
