Press release of the day
So what shall I do with this blog thingy today? I know, pour scorn on the day's crappiest press release, which comes courtesy of Image Analyser Ltd, a company which, um, er... something to do with analysing dirty multimedia messages? Hard to tell.
"Recent high profile news stories and a notable precedent setting case adjudicated by the House of Lords have increased the pressure on organisations to maintain adequate safeguards to prevent illicit digital material from being stored on, or circulated via, mobile phones," it says here. Uh huh. I bet you're just the folks to provide said safeguards. Anyway...
"The price of negligence in this area can range from severe damage to reputation", it continues. That's the whole sentence. So, getting a naughty MMS can damage your phone? Or give you a nasty rash of reputation? I'm confused (and, yes, wilfully pedantic today).
"Within instant messaging 25% had an unwanted exposure to pictures of naked people or people having sex. Sexual content (pornography) over cell phones will generate billions in Western Europe." Now I'm even more confused. Are these people trying to stem the proliferation of unwanted microscreen porn or encourage investment in it?
I give up. By the way, I won't identify the PR agency that wrote/transmitted this release, other than to say that they're usually better than this and hey, better luck next time.
