VMWorld Keynote
Dr Steve Herrod - VP Tech Dev - takes the stage.
We are not normal attendees, he says. We like to talk details. And that's the plan this year. Two hundred breakout sessions. A skyrocketing ecosystem - 1400 partners, as many as there were attendees at the first VMWorld.
Not sure about the skyrocketing ecosystem. Sounds like the B Ark from Hitch-Hiker.
His personal favourite? Tweak the Geek. No idea what that is yet. Sounds fun.
"And your favourite, the hands-on labs" (excited whispers of "Yes!" from behind me in the audience. Herrod is right - these are not normal people).
The standard head mount microphone for this keynote is an almost transparent ear-mounted boom that hugs the right cheek. It's invisible - apart from the capsule at the end, which is a fetching white against the pink of the cheek. It looks like a small speck of breakfast, or perhaps a wart made up to look like a Restoration beauty spot.
Now it's time for the president and co-founder, Diane Green
