Novell had it's chances to be a real bigtime player in the networking world but ruined it's chances, bye not having a clear defined strategy & future proofed plan of where to take it's wares. Which was clearly at the time, one of the best directory services NDS & NOS Netware, and work with that properly in the IT market place. A tieing with the likes of Cisco or Bay Network ala Nortel bak in the 90's & then later look at a desktop offering, which now is Suse, could have really taken Novell to the heights it had back in the 80's & early 90's.

So now, to save it's bacon Novell has to turn to what was it's biggest competitor Microsoft, for a deal & creditability to have a real foot in the IT market place. This is Novell's last chance fo survival, and without Microsoft, Novell's fortune's & future proofness would disappear into the ether.

Good luck Novell, whatever you want to be now, I hope it works out well and some good comes of your technolgies.
