Dell to blog in English
Dell almost made it into the good books of Linux users this week, when it acknowledged the contribution the open source community has made to its new Idea Storm user forum.
83,000 users had, at the time of writing my article, 'promoted a suggestion' on the Dell Idea Storm site that Dell should offer Linux on all its PCs.
Dell posted a statement within days on its site, saying it was in talks with Novell. A few heads perked up, only to find that the Novell deal was not in fact the installation of SuSE on all Dell machines, but an act of certifying SuSE software to work on Dell's machines - if users installed it themselves.
But not to be discouraged, I dug deeper into Dell's statement to find some more good news and found that the PC vendor is to start blogging "in our second language".
So for UK customers - at long last you will have some tips from a top US tech company that's written in your mother tongue.
