CeBIT looks inwards
CeBIT attracts visitors from all over the world, including sizeable contingents this year from the US and Asia. To exclude the vast majority of those from the event's press conferences is at best embarrassing for the organisers and presenters, and at worst, quite selective and disgraceful.
The two companies concerned: global giants Novell, - and Vodafone.

Yes it does look inwards - perhaps this is driven by the results inward looking companies gain when they strive to connect using the nearest-neighbour approach in order to serve their most loyal customers or...
While I agree with the fact that it would make commercial sense to appeal to all when so few opportunities arise to do so I'd also imagine that the value creation of marketing to the locals is greater.
CeBIT is in Europe for an obvious reason - so that Europeans can get to an exhibition of this stature and showcase their innovations as well as invite non-Europeans to do the same. PR in German may not be the obvious choice per se but perhaps the majority of customers attending ARE German.
In other localities one would expect Japanese, Chinese or Portuguese perhaps - it doe,s as I said earlier, make sense to appeal to all but maybe CRM systems have dealt English speaking journalists attending CeBIT a cruel blow and they've not been considered part of that value creation...
