Vista - do I or don't I?
I just received my upgrade copy of Vista from Dell, several months after ordering my spanking new laptop. Now I'm torn - do I wait until SP1 or do I just go ahead and upgrade from XP.
This, I know, is a dilemma facing a lot of you, especially those with multiple computers to manage. My laptop's new, so I'm not too worried about the hardware keeping up (though I really want to try out ReadyBoost), and my few peripherals are pretty recent too. On the other hand, there's no compelling reason for me to upgrade - XP suits me just fine.
What to do? I reckon I may succumb to the inquisitive geek within and give it a shot, but I will of course keep you updated as to my progress.

I say don't!
Too late! I bit the bullet last night. And it did my head in - but that's not Vista's fault.
When I got my lovely laptop last December, one of the first things I did was partition the C and D drives myself, not liking the manufacturer's configuration (or bloatware). This came back to haunt me yesterday because Vista claimed there wasn't enough space on the C: to install, and I didn't want to end up with my OS on the D: - ergo, I decided to start from scratch.
Fresh install of XP with a bigger C: partitioned this time, then after those many hours I got down to installing Vista. I've barely had time to spend with it (was up until the wee hours completing this epic journey) so have no real comments as yet, other than to say it hasn't blown up my computer, and it does look quite jazzy.
