Who Broke the iPod?
We have had at least two iTunes updates in the last week or so and still Apple has warned people to stay clear of the safely remove hardware option.
So it is enlightening that yesterday Microsoft released patches to Vista to make it work better with the iPod.
It does appear that it wasn't the iPod alone that had problems and that Vista was prone to damaging data on other external devices such as Canon's cameras and other things.
It does seem a little convenient that this was somewhat spun in the MS press as Apple trying to clobber Vista when it appears that Microsoft themselves have to actually fix something which, in theory, had many man years of testing through the Beta release they must have been aware of as an issue.

I guess the same can be said if it was the other way round really, no matter what the company or industry... All the more "in the spotlight" seeing it is such well known companies like Apple and Microsoft (and given the recent publicity - and popularity - of their products).
Sorry, modafo. There's just no way to finesse this into some kind of 'both companies are the same' or 'it depends on your point of view' nonsense.
Microsoft was forced to patch their OS in a way that solves the iPod incompatibility. This is a fact, not a point of view. Considering that making things easier for Apple in the music marketplace is the last thing Microsoft would want to do, this move is a public admission and proof positive that this incompatibility was nothing but Microsoft's doing all along.
How do you get from that to "the same can be said the other way around"? That's quite a filter you've got on there on your perception of reality.
