Yahoocrosoft? Microhoo?
The feisty New York Post is saying that Microsoft is chasing Yahoo with a very large cheque and lust in its eyes. Fifty billion bucks is on the table, with the strategy being the pure and simple "Get Google".
Microsoft has eyed Yahoo before, but never with nearly enough money to make the deal sing. This could be different - but aside from sheer size, it's not clear to me how two companies without a clue about how to beat the Pagerank Gang will have any more of a clue if they get together.
Nevertheless, the market's taking it seriously - share price on both companies is heading skywards.
Should be the story of the week, just as soon as either party says anything. For now, it's a rumour.
