Which is the better story?

1. The Daily Telegraph website has been down for a day
2. Nobody noticed

That's not quite true - the Guardian media section noticed, and ran a rather sweet story about the site being under a distributed denial of service attack. The poor IT bod from the D Tel said it was like having your house vandalised with a tractor - an analogy that may work for the clientele.

But the question remains: who on earth who knows of the existence of the D Tel has sufficient skills to mount a DDOS attack on it? Last time I had anything to do with the paper (a couple of years ago when I wrote an obit for them), the chaps were just about coming to terms with the facsimile machine...
