The internet is mobile?
But - what are the experiences of users? is the new service as good as they claim? I have found the page rendering to be improved, but the speed of download is still variable and navigation remains clumsy on my BB Pearl.
Will Mobile Internet Browsing ever take off? are the operators just desparate for new streams of revenue?

It's funny really - I always get glared at when I go to some industry roundtable and ask "but do people really want this?", and mobile internet has been no exception.
The debate really comes down to one thing: for what particular purpose would someone want to use the internet on a tiny screen, with a rubbish input system? For me, the answer is: news updates, weather forecasts, Wikipedia (well, "Wapipedia" - should be banned in pub quizzes), The Onion... even banking.
Yes, despite being cynical about the mobile internet in general - and particularly about how people are going to make money out of it - I actually use the damn thing quite a lot now. It could be that I'm a geek, or there could be something in the whole crazy scheme.
I haven't tried Vodafone in particular, by the way.
For a long time I was convinced that mobile internet was destined to join the ranks of technologies in Gartner's infamous 'trough of disillusionment'.
Yet - I am hearing more examples of people actively needing and using the internet via their mobile - ebay bidding is a great example, train times, sports scores and news are also valuable applications. I am not convinced about mobile TV, IM or more 'browser' web surfing.
Devices, navigation and page rendering still need to move with the times, too often pages take ages to download only to find that it is an unecessary image that is holding up the browser...
Can anyone else recommend other uses? or experiences?
