eNNOVATE-ing Naija
Last week Lagos experienced a poorly attended technology exhibition which should have been flooded with heads of Nigerian technocrats, magnates, economic & financial advisers, and corporate organizations - ideally it should have been venued for an amphi-stadium rather than the adjoining-halls of Muson Center.
It was a likely break-even venture event for the organizer; XLR8 communication consultant, having sympathetically graced by handful of exhibitors and of course limited sponsors (DHL, Cisco, and MTN).
What generation in this information age moving at neck-breaking speed would be reluctant to ride on the 3G bandwidth? Well, Nigerians!
-No structured platforms to operate socio-economic activities upon without one hitch or another; no employment programme for the seething graduates and unskilled labor, and yet amazed at the high rate of violent crimes which even our security agents aid and abate.
I'd say, the so called 'giant of Africa' or recently hyped 'economic hub of Africa' is just a figment of imagination and a reality of perfidy.
Suppose we really do have a plan B, is it with the re-denomination of our weeping Naira? Or the China sponsored kite-flying of Nigerian Communications Satellite which has become a disruptive technology in the face of NCC's telecoms regulation and tariff unification propaganda?
Let's face the fact and dance to the melancholic beats of our past; hopefully we'd get back our rhythm in unison with the NextGen agenda of UN's MDG.
-Dis na Lagos!
-doregos.
