iPhone flaws? Could it be?

Posted by David Meyer

Those of you who have iPhones - I hope you're enjoying them! Just out of interest, there's a couple of slightly negative stories going around about dead zones on the screen (something to do with moisture?), and the gadget's virtual keyboard apparently causing typos.

Not having one myself, I couldn't possibly comment, but we'd be keen to hear your experiences...

Dead zones on the phone should be reported to Apple as the handset maybe faulty - mine seems pretty responsive throughout. Typos- this is a fault by design so is common to all iPhones. Predicitive text is available in most modern phones in one variation or another. But in the iPhone it seems a little more aggressive in it's "correcting" of your supposed typos. For example I type the homer simpson "doh" in a message and it was changed to "dog" when I sent it and completely changed the meaning of my message. I tried again and it proved difficult to force the word I wanted. Once I figure out how to not accept the predicitive text suggestions I'm sure it won't be a problem but seeing as there is a distinct lack of manual/instructions with the phone I am left to try and work things out through trial and error.

"Dog" instead of "doh"? Man, I'd like to know what that message was and who got insulted!
