Is virtualisation (just) virtual?

Posted by Gary Flood

One of the things that leaps out of the research - more details next week as promised - is that virtualisation seems to be more honoured in the breach than the observance; possibly like green IT, more an issue for journalists and suppliers than real live sites? Agree/disagree?

I dunno Gary - although I was just a 'journalist' when I attended VMword Europe in Cannes back in February, there did seem to be a lot of companies there putting some virtual 'reality' in the cassoulet pot.

Yes - it is still in its adolescence as a technology, but I think there's definitely something to be said for real world implementations of virtualisation and the merry little band of consolidation technologies that go with it.

Or maybe it was just the Pernod talking :-)
