SightSpeed Light Available on hi5 Social Network

Posted by J.A. Watson

I have just seen the announcement that SightSpeed Light is available on the hi5 social networking site. Now, there's probably too much gray in my beard for me to be very involved in sites like hi5, but I am very pleased indeed to see SightSpeed promoting their Light version. I have written about it previously (April 2008 and January 2008), and I think this should be one of the biggest advantages that SightSpeed has over their competition.

This is the direction that I think video/audio/text chat development should be going. Instant, spontaneous video chat, or video messaging, without having to download or install anything, well integrated with the popular social networking sites. Users who become familiar with SightSpeed on these sites are likely to move up to the full SightSpeed Personal version when they want more features and flexibility, or to SightSpeed Business for up to 9-way video conversations.

This certainly makes Skype look silly, still blundering around producing mega-bloated releases which try to take over your entire desktop only to provide you with one-to-one video.
