New Releases to Start the New Week

Posted by J.A. Watson

Two of my favorite, and most frequently used, programs made new builds available at the end of last week. SightSpeed build 6539 is now available for download from their web page, and Opera 3.51 is also available.

Both seem to be minor "cleanup" releases, but both give me the chance to say again, if you haven't looked at these programs yet, give them a chance. They just keep getting better. There are some interesting similarities in their positions, actually. Each of them is competing against a "dominant" program in their market, which one could easily argue is technically, commercially or philosophically inferior, and also against a second competitor which is more equally positioned in terms of market position, and is generally perceived as being the "aggressive underdog" in the struggle against the market dominator. As a result, in my opinion, both SightSpeed and Opera get less attention and credit than they deserve.
