OpenDisc - free software collection

Posted by Jake Rayson

And the good news is that the latest version of OpenDisc was released a couple of weeks ago. OpenDisc is a collection of Free Open Source Software for Windows, and includes such gems as Firefox 3 web browser, OpenOffice, VLC media player, WinSCP FTP client and Notepad++ text editor, amongst other luminaries.

The project grew out of the OpenCD project, which I believe was run under the aegis of the ubuntu community. However, the project stalled somewhat and Chris Gray, the project lead, wanted a more liberal licensing attitude, so that he could bundle the VLC media player.

Download the ISO and burn some CDs to share with family, friends & colleagues :)
