McKinnon loses Lords appeal

Posted by David Meyer

According to the BBC, "NASA hacker" Gary McKinnon has lost his appeal in the House of Lords against extradition to the United States, where he could very well get a life sentence for his hackery.

This is all a very strange - and possibly quite unfair - affair, but the Lords obviously think it's been above board.

Anyway, our man Colin Barker is over at the Lords now, so expect a full story on today's events soon...

UPDATE: Here's that story.

The whole case is dodgy and just shows how if you have enough power Justice and the law will bend to your will.

I don't believe everything that Gary McKinnon says but most of it makes sense.

Rather than pursuing justice the US seem to be keen to grab him to:
1. Shut him up - whether he saw what he said or not it is damaging to them (especially about the unlimited/free energy source they are supposedly keeping quiet)
2. Because they are embarrassed that their security is was so poor and exposed
3. They want to show that if you mess with them their are always going to be consequences

Either way Gary looks screwed now. I doubt we will hear much more of/from him after his extradition

I watched the video, I really hope he gets to stay at home, he seemed
like such a regular type of chap.....If he did find out about some kind of free energy device, and he is extradited, then I fear we may not here from him again, as anything could happen in a US prison. I really hope that the European court can stop this. At times it seems that those who run or manage our establishment have no loyalty to there own citizens.
Sure, he broke the rules, but I reckon that not being allowed to use any online resources is punishment enough.

At least NASA and the rest now know that whoever has been looking after their security has been cutting some serious corners!!
