Dell and Lenovo netbooks ready to land

So, how's the netbook thing going for you? Personally I'm yet to be convinced I really want one – I've played around with a couple of Asus Eees and haven't quite figured out what I'd need a netbook for that couldn't be achieved with my smartphone or one of the several larger laptops I come into contact with daily. But that's me.

Anyway, if I was looking to get a netbook, I might be waiting for the entries in that low-cost subnotebook canon from Dell or, say, Lenovo. Funnily enough, both of those seem prepped to land soon. Engadget has a screenshot that suggests the Lenovo Ideapad S10 is going on sale pretty much anytime now, while Gizmodo has the Dell Inspiron 910 (no longer the "Dell E" – can't think why) also due within days.

My money's on the Dell, because it looks like it'll be cheaper. After those dollar figures get translated into pounds, I imagine the Lenovo will be £300 at least, while the Dell could be closer to £200. Once the mystical currency conversion monkeys do their work, however, we shall see how reality bears out.

Oh, and you'll be able to get the Dell with a netbooky remix of Ubuntu on it, apparently. Which makes it more interesting, too.
