Skype 4.0 Beta 2 Available... Maybe...

Posted by J.A. Watson

The Skype PR machine has swung into action again. Figuratively speaking, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting some kind of article blaring about its availability. Except, uh, the link that they all give, to the Skype Windows Beta Download page, still takes you to the original 4.0 Beta 1 download, dated 15 August 2008. Not a big deal, I'm sure they will get it straightened out (well, pretty sure... hmmm... sort of sure... well, they might, eventually), but in the meantime it's going to lead to a lot more confusion, and people download the old beta and look for the new features.

Wouldn't it be nice if Skype could get one thing right, just one, on the first try? Hopefully the new Beta software will be at least a little bit better, but I'm not holding my breath...

The Beta 2 download is now available – and it’s clearly labelled, so there’s no mistake about what you’re getting :)
