High Tech for Hard Times - Part Two The SOHO System Of My Choice

Posted by utzy

So this is what I would buy if I had a budget of a £1000 for a new small business. I am an Apple user and this is not a better than the rest posting please feel free to chip in with the best PC option.

Mac mini, 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (2GB RAM)
Dell TrueColor E248WFP 24-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor
iPod touch 8GB
Keyboard and Mouse (you may have these at home so saving you £50 or so)

The Mini is great for a small home office, it has enough crunching power to run most stuff you'll need. The Dell screens are huge great value and allow you to multi task big time. I always think a good big screen is so key to running your business as you going to spend a lot of time at this station and to protect your eyes and interest you need to be immersed in it all

iPod touch is a fine and now refined on the road device for notes and emails, if you are in or near a city and can discipline yourself to wifi stations you can safe so much in comparison to an iphone and still be in contact when you want. Tommorow I will look at software to on the system.

What do you think ?

Well if you avoid Apple and go for DELL instead you can get...

Just a quick look at the website you can have an SFF Dell Optiplex 330 with:

2.3Ghz Core 2 duo E6550
Vista Business
2GB RAM
250GB HDD
24" E248WFP Monitor
plus...
Dell Mini 9 Netbook (instead of the iPod Touch)

Comes in just shy of £900

As above, not a dell/pc fanboy - just a different idea.
