Talk Business Now
If you’ve read this far, you might be interested in a new online workplace for business professionals. I’ve spent a little time at Talkbiznow and although a little rough around the edges, it seems a pretty decent attempt to allow business people to communicate effectively, unlike the social networking sector which is full of teenagers competing to have the most ‘friends’. Talkbiznow is worth a peek as it combines online networking and business tools to enable professionals of all types to connect. For instance, it lets you host free Webinars, post free advertisements, file share (gulp!), post blogs, and annoy/nudge contacts.
Best of all, it is completely free - Talkbiznow founders told me that they do not intend to ever charge its members subscription fees like the other sites in the market today. The site may have a dream to create a significant paradigm shift in the way that business professionals and companies engage with each other in a global market place, but this type of business is a numbers game and only with a large volume of users will it be of any use.

Super, I've just spent the time between this and my last reply to your other blog, at Talk Business Now, and joined up. Looks interesting, I've posted a couple of small blogs and joined the introductory network.
It all seems to work very well. Just hope I can meet some good folk on there, and maybe learn a thing or two!
Interesting to see some coverage for them Christian. I registered on the site on its first day, mainly for competitive analysis. It looks OK.
But most interesting about Talk Biz Now was the launch: articles in several of the broadsheets, the former MD at Intelligent Finance at the helm (not sure an ex banker involved has quite the same cache now!) and talk of 3 million members within a matter of months.
This last point suggests they misinterpreted their market, as there are already several well established social networks aimed at businesses, including LinkedIn, Xing and our own network at WeCanDo.BIZ. Xing is European focused and although it has been public since 2006, has just 6 million members. I think Talk Biz Now will struggle to achieve what it says it will.
Still, the real measure of such sites is whether the users are generating business from them. I hope to see some reports from Talk Biz Now that this is the case and it is offering more of real use to business owners than free access to some useful technology tools.
