T-Mobile advises on Android patch

Posted by David Meyer

Remember that ghastly, elementary-mistake Android flaw that allows command line commands to be run with root privileges from any application on an Android handset (i.e. the T-Mobile G1, currently)?

Well, T-Mobile UK has finally gotten back to me with details of when they'll push out the patch to G1 users in this country. Here's what they told me:

- An over-the-air software patch is being issued and all existing T-Mobile customers will have received this update by Thursday morning
- No new customers who are yet to purchase a G1 will be affected by this
- Customers will receive a prompt to install the patch, with the G1 showing there are new software updates – they simply have to accept and the patch will be downloaded and installed on their handsets

There you go. Don't let it happen again, etc...
