AA1 Ubuntu bugs & niggly bits
I recently installed Ubuntu Linux 'Intrepid Ibex' on my chintzy Acer Aspire One and there have been a number of glitches with the updates (no sound, fan not working properly, keys playing up, card reader reading less than usual...). Apparently there is now an "Ubuntu Netbook Remix (UNR) installer image with the LPIA kernel" available, and this "can be installed as-is on an Aspire One", thereby greatly reducing the number of steps.
This is potentially very good news :) I won't be installing straight away, as the builders are in and I have no internet connection to call my own for a couple of weeks (I'll be going with TalkTalk after a recommendation and they are way cheaper than the BT/Virgin combo I had before).

Had my hands on an acer one today (4gb). It was in hungarian and somehow hoping along with vista on it! Anyway thought I'd have a go at installing XP from the n-lite folder on my USB key and it didn't take too long about it. Did a little chopping down and it's very happy.
Turns out I may be able to buy it cheap. If that's the case I'm going to turn it into a mini multimedia move and visualising machine, the aim being to keep things smooth.
Once this is achieved then I'll be telling everyone how I did it....
