ZDNet UK's new video area is ready for action
No more. All of our output is now available in one place, with tons of nice searchy and clicky to guide you through the glades of the moving image. Everything should load faster, play better and be far easier to keep an eye on, and I'm jolly pleased to be able to let everyone know about it.
Those who are fans of our sister sites silicon.com and cnet.co.uk may recognise various features of the video page. It's one of our first projects designed from the outset to provide common functionality across multiple outlets. I won't bore you with the details of what goes on behind the pages, nor the incredible amount of co-ordination that has to happen between editorial, technical, ops, advertising, marketing and quite possibly the Akond of Swat (I'm sure I saw him in a project meeting last week), but this has been the first major project I've seen come together from my perch in the editorial chair. Magic stuff.
As with all new complex technical things, there may be the odd hiccough, glitch or curiosity that we've missed in our testing - if you spot something happening that looks awry, let me know and I'll get the Akond on it straight away.
For now, though, get stuck in.

Super stuff, it all seems to be behaving itself. I like that there is now the ability to embed video. And of course I can easily find all the old dialogue box episodes. Great fun!
Looks great Rupert! Surely there is now nothing to stand in the way of Dialogue Box's total world domination. All hail Charles and Rupert.
You ain't seen nothing yet! (Well, obviously, given that we've got a new video channel and 44 episodes of Dialogue Box, not to mention nearly a thousand other video clips, you should have seen something already. But in the context of new and exciting video content that will make all that has gone before seem like nothing, the phrase has some validity in a metaphorical sense even if it does not stand scrutiny from a purely literal viewpoint. I hope I've made myself clear)
