Airstrikes prompt defacement of Israeli websites

Posted by Tom Espiner

While the Israeli Defence Forces are busy putting footage of their bombing of the Gaza strip on YouTube, militant hackers are attempting to deface Israeli websites.

The website Arabic Mirror, which charts website defacements by hackers, shows a screen shot of an Israeli site that has allegedly been defaced by Morrocan hackers 'Team Special Agent'.

The 'Bkahol' site (sorry, I can't read Hebrew, so I don't know what the site normally shows) now shows pictures of Israeli tanks with messages such as "Stop killing kids and women".

Israel began shelling Gaza a week ago, after discontinuing a ceasefire. It claims the airstrikes are designed to stop Hamas supporters launching rocket attacks into Israeli territory. Palestinian sources claim over 400 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli airstrikes in the past week. Israeli sources claim four Israelis have been killed in Palestinian rocket attacks in the same period.
