IE8 release candidate expected for Monday

Posted by David Meyer

According to Microsoft's Internet Explorer blog, RC1 of IE8 is almost ready to go, albeit not for Windows 7 testers. The news was mentioned by-the-bye in a post about the rendering of the whitehouse.gov website in the Windows 7 version of IE8 beta 2:

"This is because the version of IE8 in Windows 7 Beta is somewhat older than the Internet Explorer 8 Release Candidate (IE8 RC1) that we're about to release for Windows Vista and Windows XP," wrote Frank Olivier, the team's UX and Compatibility program manager.

Meanwhile, over on NeoWin, "Insiders indicate it might be worth penning Monday 26th January in your calendar as the date for IE8 RC1".

So, keep 'em peeled...
