AT&T: Dell to release smartphone

Posted by David Meyer

Dell is set to launch a smartphone, AT&T chief executive Ralph de la Vega has revealed.

Speaking at a Mobile World Congress keynote session on Tuesday morning, de la Vega said: "Acer announced they're entering the smartphone market; Dell announced they're entering the smartphone market."

Acer has, at the Barcelona show, announced its entry into the market, but Dell has not yet done so. Rumours have been flying around of such a handset, but the manufacturer itself has not confirmed them.

More soon.

Dell has so far refused to comment about the possiblity of a smartphone, and just now again declined to officially comment when we rang them.
