SlimBlade Trackball Mouse and Ubuntu 9.04 Alpha
jw 20/2/2009
Correction. Sigh. The touchpad isn't being disabled when the bluetooth mouse is connected. It isn't working at all! Apparently I hadn't noticed, because I always had a USB mouse connected. I just checked the Ubuntu bugs, and it has already been logged, and will certainly be fixed long before the final 9.04 release. Sorry about the misinformation.

Hi JA, I was wondering if you can confirm that all of the features of the Kensington SlimBlade Trackball Mouse work in Ubuntu, that is, all four buttons and the scrolling feature? I have heard that the top 2 buttons send non-standard signals that the kernel doesn't recognize, is this true?
I think that you are referring to the Slimblade Trackball; what I have is the Slimblade Trackball Mouse, which is quite different. Mine has only two buttons, not four, so I can't check that for you. I can tell you that the scroll function works just fine, both horizontal and vertical, when the device is in "mouse" mode, but if there is a scroll function when it is in "trackball" mode I have not yet tried it.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

I think what you are referring to is the Kensington Slimblade Trackball; what I have is the Slimblade Trackball Mouse, which is completely different. Mine has only two buttongs, so I can't confirm if the four-button Trackball works properly. Sorry.
