Geany column select

Posted by Jake Rayson

Wooters!! I've just found out that my favourite Geany text editor does support Column mode editing. Thanks to chuck for this post.

Basically, column mode editing allows you to select portions of text across multiple lines, based on columns.

In the example below, I wanted to delete the /home/dogsthat/ portion of text across all lines. I positioned my cursor at the beginning of the line and then held down the Shift and the Alt keys whilst using the down and right arrow keys. I simply deleted the selected text, although you can replace the text directly by typing.

(NB column mode editing doesn't work with wrapped lines).
