The duck don't like it
A recent addition to the household has been a duck, who alas remains egg-less. In an attempt to make her feel more at home, I bought a kennel on the cheap (sorry, no pun intended), and have been adapting it for duck use. This involves building a door, putting it on legs and making a ramp.
But the duck don't like it. This is analagous to building a web site that is never used. It can be the shiniest, brightest, greatest web site/duck house in all the world, but if the duck don't like it, then your chickens come home to roost.
This is why, in our webbed-world, I believe that social networking sites are inherently precarious creatures. Even with excellent marketing and top billing, they are always defined by their audience; an active, participatory audience at that. Looks like tomorrow I'll be brushing up the tumbleweed, as ducks aren't all they're quacked up to be... (oh dear)
