UK will not get HP's new business netbook
HP's latest business-oriented netbook, the Mini 1101, will not be coming to the UK, a spokesperson for the manufacturer has confirmed.
The news came a day after HP announced the Compaq Mini 110c, which will be coming to the UK. This device, which replaces the Compaq Mini 700, is similar to the HP Mini 110 that will be available outside the UK with Linux as an operating system option.
The Mini 110c will not have Linux as an option, much the same as with the Mini 700 — itself a UK version of a Linux-friendly HP netbook available overseas, the Mini 1000.
Both the Mini 1000 and Mini 110 use HP's Mi Linux distribution, which is based on Ubuntu and has garnered some praise in reviews for its user interface.
An HP spokesperson told ZDNet UK on Friday that the company still offered Linux on its 2140 Mininote netbook, the predecessor to the Mini 1101.
