Windows 7 to come in 'Steve Ballmer' edition
For Steve Ballmer fans, Microsoft plans to release a special edition of Windows 7 Ultimate that comes in a package with the chief executive's signature on the front.
The software maker did the same thing with Vista, Ina Fried of CNET News.com points out, but that time it was Bill Gates whose autograph adorned the packaging.

I'd prefer to have the signature of the 30 cent an hour wage slave that's going to have to pack and stack the DVD boxes for the shrink-wrap disks they are going to flood the world with. At least he's not a human action-figure version of the Animaniacs Brain trying to take over the entire world by shady business practices.

Nothing but freaking ego gratification or at best the idea of a MS sycophant.
If Balmer wants to impress me he'd pay $1,000 per copy of the "signed" Win 7 disks out of his own pocket to a legitimate charity UNRELATED to Microsoft or its founders.
I kind a agree with the comments on this post. I am not a big fan of "Ego Editions" for products. And, I would have preferred that these special editions go to special causes. There is enough cash at Microsoft, there are enough charities to choose from, and there are enough people willing to buy Windows 7 and help out a good cause.
Why couldn't we link this edition with one of Bill's great charities? World hunger or Malaria would be a great start.
