I ate all the PyRoom!

Posted by Jake Rayson

PyRoom screengrab

Ever hot on the stone cold trail of innovative software, I stumbled across WriteRoom the other day, a bare-bones pared-down text editor for the Mac.

I like it. It appeals to my ascetic sensibilities It is a full screen application, with the minimum of distraction, no formatting, the minimum of features (ahh, I remember Simplicity is a feature;), full-screen, get-on-with-job-at-hand.

There is a Windows version available, called Dark Room and a Python version that runs on Linux called PyRoom. I am very excited. I've installed it (with a bit of fiddling with the PPAs) and it works. And the cool thing is, I will be able to format everything using the relentlessly championed lightweight markup language Markdown.
