Irrelevant pointless mutterings from modafo....
target="blank" = bad, very bad. Please do not use this.
Irrelevant blurb, not necessarily tech related... I mean, it's not as if i live and breath technology day in day out, 24 7.... I am, after all, just the bottom clog in the corporate mega wheel.
In fact, i doubt this so-called blog will even be:
1. interesting
2. funny and
3. frequently updated.
But thanks for reading nonetheless!

Another ALA article - a good read about Web Standards in large companies
Have a read of the new ALA article concerning standards and large companies: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/standardsandcompanies
[QUOTE]
Contributing to the public face of the standards movement is not as necessary for employees of large companies as it is for small business owners and freelancers. These employees already have a fixed income. They already have exciting clients. They even have managers who listen when they talk about web standards, or at least trust them enough not to interfere with their daily front-end work.

Mobile QR codes - mobile phones and stuff
Here's a rather interesting read from silicon.com, not concerning coding or Web Standards but regarding mobile phones - Upwardly Mobile: Where are all the QRs?.
Interesting and sounds rather fun (perhaps even pointless - but hey!).
"As usual it seems the cradle of mobile civilisation, Japan, has found and deployed a system to take advantage of cameraphones which is being embraced by retailers and consumers alike."
Somehow, i'm not surprised really!... These QR codes sound like something Japan could embrace, but not the UK really... Or is that just me??

A List Apart - How to Grok Web Standards
Apart from Digital Web, another great online mag to read (and a firm favourtie i'm sure) for web designers is A List Apart.
Recently, they have a new article entitled "How To Grok Web Standards", which is well worth a read for sure - even if you don't hand-code on a day to day basis.
I know from my own experience that designing a site with CSS in mind can influence and affect design decisions, and the more you use CSS and experiment with it, the more intuitive and natural it becomes - as mentioned in the article, you will begin to intuitively know what style to use and go for, and so on.
Also, when it comes to HTML, things like the semantic structure of the markup is not something that can be (or is even?) greatly appreciated by those outside the front-end realm of coding - it definitely doesn't get the respect it deserves. For many people (in general), it doesn't/wouldn't matter to them if a certain heading text was marked up in a h1, h4, p or div tag - as long as it looked fine visually on the web browser. And i think that's one of the reasons why Web Standards is so greatly under-valued and unappreciated by many (apart from those who adhere to it).
That is the real shame.
