Mobile Keyloggers and Your Credit Card Information
By: Eric Everson, Founder – MyMobiSafe.com
I’ve touched on the topic of mobile keyloggers in the past, but as they are quickly growing in popularity I find it important to raise the issue again. Mobile keyloggers for anyone unfamiliar with the topic is cell phone software that records every keystroke one types into their mobile keypad. Much like its computer related predecessor, mobile keyloggers are used as a tracking/recording device.
Why does the average cell phone owner care about mobile keyloggers? The recent global consolidation of landline/mobile service providers is a good indicator of how many people are ditching their landline in favor of only having wireless service. For years now, I’ve personally only had a mobile phone without a second thought of a landline. The issue then becomes the information that we so willingly punch into our mobile phones. Consider that last call you made to your credit card company, chances are (if your experiences are anything like mine) you had to navigate through the seemingly endless queue where you were required to provide everything sacred from your card number to the blood type of your first-born before reaching a live representative. This act of providing your information could be one of the greatest mobile threats we face as a mobile community.
Every credit card type is identifiable by the first four digits making your credit card number the easiest data for mobile keyloggers to target. I don’t need to go into the havoc that having your credit card number in the wrong hands can cause as we’re all familiar with the world’s horror stories. If you are a skeptic that thinks this is an isolated thing that won’t get your phone, consider that a simple Google search I just did of “mobile keylogger” which yielded over 2.2 million results. Mobile keyloggers are readily available around the world and are already tracking millions of unsuspecting mobile users. I encourage you to start considering a mobile security solution such as MyMobiSafe® so that you can keep your mobile information private. The mobile environment is changing with the heavy migration of financial information for cell phones. Start protecting your phone and your information today. Keep following my blog for the latest mobile security developments/tips.

MyMobiSafe.com Startup Announces Big Month as Mobile Security Provider
By: Eric Everson, Founder of MyMobiSafe.com
Time flies when you’re having fun. Amazingly we are already closing in on the end of our first month in the mobile security industry. Since we took MyMobiSafe.com live on 6/1 we now represent customers from every major U.S. Wireless provider including AT&T/Cingular, Verizon, Sprint-Nextel, T-Mobile, and Alltel. We have generated upwards of 300,000 new entries in the Google search engine and have generated a lot of publicity throughout the net. I am very excited about MyMobiSafe® as it represents the future of mobile security technology. We are actively positioning our brand as the leading innovator of the mobile security industry.
As a mobile security professional, I am glad that we have spread the news about our startup as it has begun to shed light on the greater security concerns the wireless industry faces. Personally I’ve found that among all other aspects the mobile security industry has done a poor job of communicating the actual issues the mobile community faces. Collectively the media wants to focus on mobile viruses, which is just a small part of what is really threatening the mobile industry. As I personally rely heavily on my mobile, the most frightening elements in this industry for me are mobile keyloggers, snoopware, and jacking scripts. As more financial information migrates into the mobile community we all need to begin realizing the security risks we face as mobile users. I enjoy the mobile side of the security industry because it is literally in its infancy. The threats that are emerging are getting more sophisticated and there is so much room for the MyMobiSafe® brand to grow
We are looking forward to building MyMobiSafe.com as the world’s go-to place for mobile security antivirus/firewall protection. We thank everyone who has supported our launch of MyMobiSafe.com and we look forward to serving the mobile community. If you haven’t stopped by our site yet, I hope you’ll visit us soon. Feel free to leave me a message here at ZDNet.co.uk or I regularly check my ericeverson@hotmail.com address too. Together we will make the future of the mobile community a safer place!

Keep Your Mobile Data to Yourself: MyMobiSafe® Versus Mobile Keyloggers
By Eric Everson, Founder of MyMobiSafe.com
A simple Google search of “Mobile Keylogger” will yield over 1.3 million results. Do you still feel safe when typing in your card number on your mobile when calling your credit card company? The majority of people type in their card number when calling their credit card company. Mobile keylogging applications can track every key stroke on a mobile device making private credit card information accessible to the wrong hands.
MyMobiSafe® is designed to prevent keylogging software from copying data from your phone. By encrypting certain mobile operating files that allow mobile keyloggers to mirror key stroke data, MyMobiSafe® keeps your private information private. The first four characters of every credit card identify the card type, so keeping this information out of the right hands is a valuable choice.
Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the world. With the surge in available mobile content it is no surprise that the battle is spreading into the mobile community. There are a few services now offering mobile security solutions, but as the founder of MyMobiSafe.com I am biased towards ours as I know how effective we designed it to be. Regardless of which mobile security provider you choose, start thinking responsibly about the reality of keyloggers and the outside value of your mobile data.

MyMobiSafe.com Anticipating iPhone Arrival
By: Eric Everson, Founder of MyMobiSafe.com
The late June arrival of the new iPhone is all the rave this summer and MyMobiSafe.com is just as excited for the debut as everyone else. Apple has been very guarded about the information it has given to third-party software venders about the new handset. The operating system is OS X which will bring a nearly full version of operating system software to the mobile community.
According to a recent InformationWeek article regarding third-party applications, Steve Jobs recently declared “This is an important trade-off between security and openness. We want both. We're working through a way...we'll find a way to let 3rd parties write apps and still preserve security on the iPhone. But until we find that way we can't compromise the security of the phone.” Further, it has been reported that “Apple has said only software certified by them will be allowed to run on the iPhone.” (CBC News; 2007)
At MyMobiSafe.com, we are excited about the new handset and we are looking forward to making it a more secure mobile device. We will not adopt the same relaxed mindset as others who suggest “It’s a MAC, there won’t be any viruses to worry about.” Regarding the anticipated widespread adoption of the iPhone CBC News reported, “Apple is going to see things they've never seen before…" "They could see malware they have never had to deal with."
As a text book rule of digital security, the more widespread operating system usage is then the more likely it will be to get targeted in malware attacks. The tight-lipped launch of the iPhone has been successful at keeping critical information out of the malware author’s hands so far. It is commonly agreed that there won’t be a widespread attack targeting iPhone users in the near future. At MyMobiSafe.com we are focused on the future of mobile security, so we want to ensure MyMobiSafe® is capable of securing the iPhone as early as possible. We will definitely begin testing the moment the device is in our hands… okay we are tech gadget nerds, perhaps we’ll have to play with the iPhone’s new internet functionality and keyboard features before we start tearing it apart, but we’ll be working on it same day nonetheless. It is no secret that MyMobiSafe.com is anticipating the arrival of Apple’s latest gadget.
