Steve Jobs has a hormone imbalance and is being treated for weight loss

Posted by utzy

More intrigue on the eve of Macworld with Apple citing hormone imbalance as the cause of more weight loss for Steve Jobs. In a public letter Job states he is already receiving treatment and will remain at the Helm of Apple- he adds he should be back up to speed by the spring. Hmm reassuring or same apple mystery plot ....

Apple's answer to the netbook is a large screen ipod touch ?

Posted by utzy

With the rumour mill cranking up to tomorrow's keynote I really hope Apple have given Mr Schiller something of interest to WOW the crowds with, and apart from the updated Mac Mini and maybe a unibody 17 inch Macbook, one of the most interesting maybe is the introduction of Apple's answer to the netbook. Given Apple's Macbook air really sets their philosophy of having a full screen and keyboard notebook, the only way they can crank out a portable netbook like device would be to have a 9 inch touchpad with a touch screen keyboard and with their App stores doing great guns really push there mobile device as a portable gaming unit and web/email small document writer machine (what a mouthful)

Though still not sure how this would fit in their current product line and with Apple what they would call it, perhaps a Touch pro ??

A jobless macworld may bring

Posted by utzy

A yawning keynote by the old duffer Phil schiller
A new mac mini clad in Aluminum
A new faster imac even thinnner with LCD instant on
A new Apple TV (that maybe combined with mac mini)
A new ilfe 09 suite with more mobile device integration

A one more thing moment by Steve himself, there is no way that Apple would bow out of Macworld without a word from Steve who may indeed announce he is stepping down. He did once mention top management teams work best for a decade and that 10 year point has just been passed.

Well what more can you say ? Pray ? Johnny Ive for CEO ??

Are (tech) conferences dead ?

Posted by utzy

With the new that Apple are pulling out for Macworld in 2010 and Steve Jobs wont be giving the key note at 2009 (why bother going now ?) it really begs the question what do large industry conference have going for them these days. In terms of business booth prices are so expensive hotel prices inflated during the time of the conference and dare I say it due to technology this is little need to meet up face to face.

Or is that the point if we give up entirely on face to face are we risking the fact that business will become so virtual that the very thought of a human meeting will make us run for the hills ?

Which will you attend in 2009 ?
