BBC's poor iPhone coverage

Posted by Hawaii-5-o

I thought the coverage BBC News gave to the iPhone launch on Friday was really poor. On the evening news they covered the story by concentrating on the fact that the phone is locked to one network, but could easily be hacked by any Joe Schmoe in his bedroom. The main body of the feature concentrated on some random guy who had bought his iPhone early in the US, seemingly to give him time to hack it in readiness for the UK launch. They then pointed out that a number of people in the queue outside the store had suggested they would also hack their phones...

Is it actually legal to hack your mobile phone and Is this responsible journalism to bring this issue to fore? Or is it, as I would suggest, the Beeb looking to ring out the last vestiges of a story that was tired before it broke?
