iPhone Hackers Fight To Claim Territory

Reminiscent of the historic days of claiming the land of the “new world” iPhone hackers are fighting for their fair share of territory. Anyone following this saga has seen the on-again-off-again tennis match between the worlds best hackers and the iPhone in pursuit of third-party functionality.
Those outside the loop may wonder, what all the commotion is about. In the grand scheme, Apple created little more than a global call for hackers by limiting the iPhone from third-party content. Since the iPhone debut hackers have been in constant battle with Apple. Have the hackers won yet another match? As seen in a recent RCR Wireless article, Apple is moving towards opening the iPhone for third-party development.
It appears that the hackers are chipping away at the tenacity of Apple. Today, the iPhone is open via a patch found throughout the iPhone web portals. In the nature of this on-again-off-again match, what is today may not be tomorrow.
What does this saga really mean for iPhone owners? The reality of third-party applications is here. In general that means that though the door has yet to be officially opened by Apple, a flood of applications are in the works for the iPhone. As the founder of MyMobiSafe.com, I must caution that with every good application developed there will unfortunately be bad ones too. Again as it rings throughout the cellular industry, mobile security is the responsibility of the handset owner. Exercise caution as you enjoy the flood of iPhone applications on the horizon. We are encouraging all legitimate third-party mobile application developers to work through the MyMobiSafe Verified Mobile Content Program to promote responsible mobile security.
