New Apple shuffles on sale just that Apple inc don't know it

Posted by utzy

 The New shuffle ?

There I was on a short trip to the wonderful Vigo in Spain, having had a fine repast of Octopus, I saw these next generation iPods for sale. Check back tomorrow for the Galician take on an Apple Nano super!! and rather spiffy iPhone nano too.

Perhaps these are what the customers are after now, who knows ?

New Apple laptops and iPods for the back-to-school and holiday season?

Posted by utzy

Following Dell's long line of latitude laptops, industry pundits and the Apple rumour mill are looking for the legendary September Apple event to refresh and in the case of laptops introduce new designs to Apple's line up. The best bets seem to be on the following:

iPods - a complete refresh like last year -mm not sure. But a price drop and format change maybe for the nano (gets slim again) and the touch(gets 128 and 64 MB versions.)

Macbooks- over two years old in design and still plastic should see refined design a la Macbook air and aluminum casings - perhaps a price drop of £50 or so.

Macbook Pro- over 4 years old if you count the last Powerbook G4 which was identical to the Macbook Pro. Better battery and video chips and perhaps a back to black aluminum shading like the current iMac modes. Perhaps a bigger trackpad with more functions on the multi-touch mode for both laptops

Outside possibility - version 2.5 of Apple TV with more films and content available to download, perhaps more integration with MobileMe - hmm perhaps not...

Non- starters for me are any touch screen tablet and anything like an iphone nano.

A new platform to develop for?

Posted by utzy

With $30 million dollars of sales since it's birth a month ago, the iPhone software platform looks like it's off to a great start. Gaming seems to be at the forefront - here is the president of Sega's US division whose Super Monkey ball has sold over 300,000 copies- `"That's a substantial business. It gives iPhone a justifiable claim to being a viable gaming platform."

With those rounded iphone icons on a large rectangular screen I can't help but see this as a kind of Palm for the new generation. They (Palm) must be losing developers by the truck load at the moment. This is all evolving at a fast pace and perhaps we might see Apple buy Palm, it is well known Apple wanted to do this a while ago but now it might make even more sense and be the only chance for Palm to survive.

What do you think ?

The Emporer's new software

Posted by utzy

I love the world of tech I really do. Get this for a little snippit of fun news. Armin Henrich a developer for the new iPhone app store made a little app called I Am Rich that had no features than to merely display an image of a glowing red ruby on your phone, he priced it at $999 and has believe it or not sold 8 copies before Apple pulled the app after a complaint.

But as Armin puts it he did not unknowingly sell something to anyone who did not read the profile - it's a work of art with no hidden features all.

One red faced purchaser has tried to blame the fact he bought it on his wife saying she had installed one click on their computer...
