Knowledge can't be divided, only multiplied

It's the quality of the team that makes a Q&A site work

A professional comment at Experts Exchange. . .

Posted by nico5038

Unbelievable, got a response from Chris a Customer Service Manager from Experts Exchange.

So obviously my blog has readers ;)

Looks like we disagree about the definition of a "professional" comment. So I'll describe my definition:

A professional comment at a "question" site describes a possible solution and wilt teach the questioner to solve a similar problem by him (her) self the next time. It will also give credit to the source of knowledge.

The "credit" part is where Chris draws a line especially for me. Experts Exchange doesn't allow me to add such a "credit" comment when an expert does forget this. Oops, correction, Experts Exchange does allow me to add such a "credit" comment, as long as it's not one particular "expert".

Still waiting for a real argument why it's just me that's suffering with this limitation that's "invented" by the EE staff and not based on any complaint in writing.

It's a known fact that there's one "would be" expert at Experts Exchange that's very sloppy in giving credits and certainly no star in explaining the "why" of a solution. So as long as I don't have the possibility to reveal at Experts Exchange the flaws of this expert's "solutions" (and making sure the Premium members get value for their now wasted $$'s), I'm not interested in any form of cooperation.

As I do stand for quality and freedom of speech, I'll consider to make a weekly blog with some improvements of given "answers" by this "would be" expert. Saves EE the trouble of removing my comments, saves me the effort to check or my comments are still there and finally does support my motto "Knowledge can't be divided, only multiplied".

AKA nico5038, modulo and GranMod at Experts Exchange :(
Now happy helping people at the free site bytes.com !

Nice detail, the signature "pitch" of Chris is stating "More IT experts". Guess suspending me (and others) does need this sales pitch to be changed into "Less IT experts"...

The failure of the Experts Exchange silence

Posted by nico5038

Strange how some people think that silence does solve problems.

From a customer support point of view they should know that not responding to emails is only increasing the agitation of a customer and that making this agitation public (like I do here) is effectively damaging the view the "outside world" has from a company.

Q:
Will I stop blogging here when there's no response ?
A:
Nope, on the contrary, it will only intensify my blogging :-)
Q:
Why this determination?
A:
Because 6 years of effort in answering MS Access questions should at least give me the right to access the comments I posted.
Q:
Will you stop mentioning the flaws of capricorn1?
A:
Never, a person that's taking the liberty to call me names when I request him to deliver "better quality comments" and that's bullying both questioners (See: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Microsoft/Development/MS_Access/Access_Coding-Macros/Q_23723647.html)
and experts (See: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Microsoft/Development/MS_Access/Q_22905071.html)
asks to be corrected when making mistakes.

(Yes, there's still no response to my "suspension reply" email)

Does Experts Exchange still exist ?

Posted by nico5038

Guess not.

There's no response from their customer service department to my emails and even my service of keeping the admins and moderators posted about the views on EE from the "out side world" is never answered with a "Thanks".

So the only alternative is to use a blog as the way to communicate with them and the number of "views" at the bottom at least indicate some people read them :-)

Perhaps one of the readers here knows an effective way of showing these people that silence doesn't solve problems, but is making it worse.

P.S.
The suspension mentioned in a previous blog is still in effect, robbing me from access to the 40,000 comments I posted in 6 years helping others to master MS Access.
I've seen shorter suspensions for much worse cases. Guess they really fear my comments at the site....

The Experts-Exchange cash cow

Posted by nico5038

I was "hit" by the EE header stating:

Fact: 635 Organizations now work smarter using Corporate Accounts. Learn More.

So I checked the price for the cheapest (well I'm Dutch) license.
That's a $449 for 5 persons a year.

So simple a calculation gives: 635 * 449 = 285,115 $ a year.

Enough to pay for a decent customer support employee I would say.
Although I responded to their "You're suspended mail" two weeks ago and send a "Ping" a week later, there's still no reply.

Looks like their don't care about losing experts.
