The story of disappearing Experts Exchange related objects

Posted by nico5038

I posted links for sample downloads at geocities in my Expert Exchange comments. All are gone.
I posted a critical comment about a stolen solution at Expert Exchange and it's gone.
I posted a full html copy of an Expert Exchange question I wrote about in my blog, both the geocities page and my yahoo email are gone.
I posted a blog about Experts Exchange not answering emails and it's gone.

All I mentioned in my disappeared blog was the fact that Expert Exchange refuse to change my email address in my Expert Exchange profile from "yahoo" into "gmail". I regard my profile as information under my copyright and as they don't allow me to change it, they should do it on my request.

Like all blog's they do receive a link from me as I have nothing to hide.....

Proud to be suspended from this "quality site" where wannabee experts rule and "quality" is just another word from the dictionary.

Ab-normalization at Experts Exchange - part 5

Posted by nico5038

The question today:
Access 2007 form validate field based on result from query

Reading the question you find a questioner wanting to check or an entered field equals the result from a query +1
In case there's a difference the user should be warned and, when possible, given the value to be entered.

This is a real "classic" example of redundant data. Everything that can be extracted from the database with query shouldn't be stored, so you would expect that an "expert" would advise not to store this and use the result of the query to show the actual value of the field as information.

Well, you're having a bad day when you're advised by the #1 MS Access expert at Experts-Exchange. This "expert" will give you as solution the code with a working IF statement and won't mention the data redundancy...

Yahoo and their interpretation of Customer Support

Posted by nico5038

Wanna have fun when your free yahoo account has been disabled by Yahoo?

Ask Yahoo to reinstate the account by using the email form.
1) You get We've received your email and will respond in 24 hrs
2) You get a template email stating that your account is disabled and that you can reply when you disagree.
3) You send a reply asking for a reason
4) Go to point 2

So the next step is to call Yahoo. The computer guided menu option "Support for free account" responds that the only way you can get contact Yahoo is to send an email form.

So you send an email and guess what..... Same procedure as before, even the "person" responding is the same as the first response from the first try.....

Now I wonder why every email states:
"Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Geocities."
and
"If you feel this message does not adequately respond to your question or comment, please reply to this email and let us know."

Most annoying part is that you'll have to find out yourself that your account has been disabled. Where are good manners gone ?

Guess Yahoo has forgotten that their "power" was based on these free accounts. After this "experience" you can guess what I'll advise my friends towards taking a Yahoo account.
