So it's out with the old Palm OS and in the new Web OS. Another one bites the dust eh.If I remember right there seems to be a lot of mobile trashed software Newton, Psion had something didn't they ?. Add to that the list of old desktop stuff there is quite a room of stuff building in the obsolete software category. Is there actually a museum for that stuff somewhere ? My favourite; well I was brought up on system 6 for Mac and loved hyper card stacks (anyone know if they are making a comeback ?) there must be hundreds of others - perhaps we could collate them here.

So the kindle 2 is out and it's thinner more apple design look will make any 21st century bookish type lick their lips (not sure if we'll ever see one this side of the pond this year though). GIven that businesses have so much literature and manuals to read I am surprised every publisher and newspaper in the land won't issue one to staff on joining - a new golden handshake to the world of words.
I must say hats off to Amazon, Apple's smugness shows them up some times (People don't read anymore according to Steve Jobs) Oh yes they do and they might find this a new way to rediscover reading at work and at play for many years to come.

Well I never. Just take a butcher's at this list if your Apple is more than seven years old expect no Apple support for it. A mighty confusing US vs Europe legal line of definition follows
"All retail Apple Stores and the Canadian, European, Latin American and Asia-Pacific operating regions follow the U.S. product list, but make no distinction between vintage and obsolete. When applied to the retail Apple Stores and these operating regions, all products on the U.S. Vintage list are considered obsolete."
Say again. All this changes if you live in California the home state of Apple where law dictates otherwise.
Hmm well I am sure my iphone battery wont see it's first year out so by 2013 that will be binned as obsolete by Apple too -hey ho

Apple have been mulling a new in-house developed video calling software (ichat for iphones) to add to their functional programmes on the iphone. Various conference programmes exist already with Cisco (document and chat via iphone) services being one of the biggest but I am wondering whether this see this as a back door into enterprise sales. Mac enterprise share in Europe stands at between 2 and 3% and only a little higher in the US. But with any non-essential travel cut from most companies expenditure budgets I am wondering that if this future iphone leap would not be a home run for Apple.
But then again maybe not so fast as you would need a new iphone pro handset to allow you to have video in out capabilities wouldn't you ? And unless you are in a wifi zone, the cost of talking over a 3G roaming network- wouldn't that be astronomical ?
