Kindle on the iPhone -It's a generation thing

Posted by utzy

To really get the next ebooks thing I think it will all be about a generational shift.

People will read books on devices sometime soon but they will grow up doing that, they will be used from school onward to seeing text on screen.

All the razz this about the Kindle software on the iPhone seems so overblown - granted you can get a book wherever you are (in the US) on to your phone but who really wants to read a book on a 3.5 inch screen , maybe news sites like ZDNET (do they have an iphone app yet anyone?) but a novel or long book I just don't think anyone of the current generation will want to read like that.

On the other hand my daughter who is 3 can even pinch text and flick pages on an iPhone (Kindle software doesn't do pinching by the way). When someone take a photo she says show me and when she sees a laptop screen she asks to speak to her Grandad on Skype.
