Professional Biography
Neill has spent the major part of his career designing and implementing state of the art data and voice networking solutions as well as real time and embedded systems. As an acknowledged technical expert, he has the rare ability to bridge the gap between a deep understanding of technology and the link to business and commercial drivers.
His expertise extends across all aspects of voice and data networks, from hands-on engineering of voice and data comms infrastructures, through to implementing IT and telecom strategies at CTO level.
He has built an Internet Telephony Service Provider business and hosted contact centres to build VoIP and broadband access for small businesses and home workers.
He is a specialist in IP engineering, working on IP Security and Network design with exposure to all the major vendors’ equipment.
Neill is an experience trainer and facilitator, teaching his skills to others through his relationship with a number of training organisations. Neill teaches IP Engineering (TCP/IP, MPLS, VPNs), VoIP (IMS) and IP Security courses and leads corporate strategy communications sessions to large groups.
Neill is a keen advocate of open source and utilises his knowledge of open source software as a valuable means of helping businesses drive down cost.
Neill has worked with many of the major telecoms operators and has authored a number of white papers. He is also the author of the highly regarded Wiley book “Next Generations Networks and Services - Technologies and Strategies”.
Neill holds an MSc in Data Communication Networks and Distributed Systems from University College London and a BSc in Computer Science. He is a Member of the IEEE Communications Society, the Computer Society and the IET.
