Professional Biography

My career began with Operations/Scheduling and 24/7 Production systems & Support, moving through support
programming, into development projects. This naturally progressed to Analysis & Business Intelligence, ultimately
involving me in team leading, whilst assisting with project management.

The majority of my experience has been in the Supply chain / Manufacturing sector, but involved all aspects of Business development (Supply chain, Financials, Distribution, and Business Analysis systems for Sales & Marketing). My stay in the Public sector has taught me the value of a softer approach to stakeholders.

My career has included work for large Multinationals using mainframes, and small server based companies. It has included software package development vendors, and extended implementation & development of these packages on the Client’s site, including onsite customer-facing roles.

I’ve had extensive 3GL / 4GL experience, developing in OLTP environments, to deliver large-scale developments for multinational companies. In the last few years I’ve been involved with backend OLAP development with Data Warehousing tools, and have come to appreciate how much value they can add to existing data & systems.

My DBA role taught me the important of accuracy and foresight when dealing with business critical data.
